Last weekend, Igor Dodon took part in the wine festival celebration in Gagauzia, which has been held annually since 2007. The wine-makers of Gagauzia and other regions of Moldova took part in the national holiday. This year, numerous guests from Russia, Turkey, Romania, Ukraine and other countries, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps of the Republic of Moldova arrived at the Wine Festival.
“Together with the guests we enjoyed the taste of excellent Gagauz wine, tasted national dishes, watched music and dance performances of local art groups and awarded the best winemakers of the region. I believe that such events play an important role in preserving and promoting the folk traditions of the residents of Gagauzia and Moldova, as well as the image of our country abroad. Thanks to the wine industry, the Moldovan economy is developing. Our wines are known and preferred in many countries,” the President noted.
“We are doing this and will do it for the future of our country,” said the Head of State.
Recall, last week, during a meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, an important agreement was reached regarding the Moldovan wine producers. From January 1, 2019, customs duties on deliveries of Moldovan wine to the Russian market will be removed, which will allow to increase sales to this country by several times.
