Explore this Aussie Gem

April 212014

I have spent most of my life in Melbourne. I love the city and occasionally have been known to support the friendly rivalry between Melbourne and Sydney quite expressively, so you can imagine my nervousness when I first found out that I might have to move to Sydney. I have visited NSW’s capital city on several occasions and seen “The Sights” – Sydney Opera House, Luna Park, the Sydney Harbour Bridge etc. Trust me, they are marvellous but I have never felt at home in Sydney. That is until the day I visited Coogee Beach.

This is our story, and I hope it gives you inspiration to take your own road trip. Seeing the country in this way can’t be beat, but it pays to have a bit of an idea about the items that will make your journey easier and the sites you absolutely must not miss on your way from Sydney to Melbourne. Make your own Great Australian Road Trip a success.

The Best Of Sydney – Almost For Free

The Best Of Sydney – Almost For Free

Things to do in Sydney free or cheap

November 232013

I have always been very keen on visiting Sydney, Australia for one very specific reason – I always saw a lot of the place on Animal Planet and as a child who was fascinated by animals, I could not wait till the day I would visit the city. That is how it started off for me. But once I was actually in Sydney, I discovered so much more. I went there in the month of January, when it is summer in Australia, and that is easily one of the best times to visit this vibrant city.

As a student, I had obvious budget constraints when I was in Sydney, but I was determined to see and do as much with the modest amount of money that I did have. My friends and I did a whole lot of research on our first night in the city and we figured out the different things that we could do there for free. And since making that list worked for us, I have decided to share that with everyone else too.

If you asked people where the top 10 beaches in the world are, most of them would probably list tropical locations like the Whitsundays or Bahamas. But you might be surprised to know that one of the beaches that regularly makes an appearance in “Top 10 Beaches in the World” lists is almost as close to Antarctica as it is to the tropics. That beach is at Wineglass Bay in Tasmania.

The fact is, the Central Coast is often overlooked by travellers despite its proximity to Sydney and its myriad natural attractions.

South Bank

A beach right in the heart of the city

April 112013

There are many places I like to pass time in Australia, but I love to become lost in thought strolling through Brisbane’s South Bank. Meandering like the river at a pace akin to a snail. This could be day or night but mostly around dusk. There’s still the bustle of people making their way home from work, meeting friends, restaurants are filling, lots of lives passing me by oblivious to my observing them in a non judgemental fashion. Groups of friends barbequing, sky scrapers loom above, archways of flowers and bustling bars, the rivers constant flow that’s been there longer than any of these things, winding through without having to remind me it’s her city not ours.
